Lamy pur 47 fountain pen review

Lamy pur 47

The Lamy pur 47 would be a great pen but for a fatal flaw. The design is very Lamy indeed: minimal brushed metal abounding with high quality clicky sounds when uncapping, posting and capping again. The nib is the standard Lamy nib which means it’s good quality and interchangeable with any other Lamy pens you may have (except for those big expensive posh ones). I do like Lamy nibs although they are firmly in the safe-but-boring box. It’s brilliant to be able to change them around though.

It writes just as any other Lamy fountain pen which is to say, very nicely. See previous paragraph. So the differentiator with this pen compared to other Lamy pens is its looks. Its looks and its section. Because the section is where this pen goes wrong. It’s ridged plastic and, in direct contrast to the rest of the pen, it feels cheap and horrible. It is not comfortable to hold and it devalues the whole pen.
