The Isle of Portland from Redcliff Point

14 December 2022 By ian

Redcliff Point is part of the southern coast of the Isle of Purbeck, on both the Jurassic Coast and the South West Coast Path. My step-son, Ollie, and I had gone for a long walk along the cliff tops a few days after Christmas Day last year and decided on the way back to take the beach route. We didn’t see another person for miles; just us and the sea washing against the rocks. It was a really wonderful walk.

In the background of this picture is the Isle of Portland, a distinctive feature all along this part of the coast. Neither the Isle of Portland nor the Isle of Purbeck are actually islands, strangely enough.

This drawing is one of my entries into this year’s SGFA open exhibition. I’ll find out in February what’s been selected (if anything).
