I’ve written a post about what I use for pencil drawings over on my new pet portrait venture, Portray Your Pet. It might be of interest to some of you.

Thanks for the link to your other blog — beautiful portraits! I’m not a huge graphite sketcher but have just recently gotten interested in more pencil sketching, so I found your post very informative. Uni Mitsubishi is my current favorite too, especially the 10B! Wow, so soft and dark. I have not been able to find that grade anywhere else, except this one: http://www.jetpens.com/Uni-Mitsubishi-Brush-Pencil-10B/pd/14146
It’s also by Mitsubishi, but the core is much wider than standard pencils. I learned how to cut it with a chisel edge — now it’s really interesting! Hope I can do something cool with it.
