Society of Graphic Fine Art Open 24 Exhibition

I went up to London earlier this week to visit this year’s SGFA open exhibition. It’s always a great day: we visit the exhibition, go for a very good lunch (possibly including cocktails) and then pop back for the evening’s private view. It still feels very special to have some work on show at Mall Galleries.

It’s the fourth year I’ve been and I think the quality of work on show has improved each year. There is an infinite variety of art that can be made by drawing. Some of it is very clever, some of it is very moving and some of it is very beautiful.

When I started looking around I took photos of the work I really loved but I soon realised I was going to end up taking photos of just about everything, so what follows is a random selection and far from a complete set of everything I liked.

The exhibition finishes on Saturday so there’s still time to visit if you can get to London. Alternatively there’s an online exhibition.

  1. Hi! Vic here, from Portugal… Looks like being a great show. Myself, i laughed a lot over the photo of those Rembrandt and Picasso pics caricactured while smoking something… else. Also loved the “pencil portrait”. Cheers!
