Maximum Sketchkit bag

This is the third and final instalment of the ever so exciting Sketchkit series. In the first episode, I wrote about what I carry around with me at all times. In the second, you found out all about what I like to keep around ready to pick up and go. This post is about what I take with me when I’ve thought to plan ahead and I know I’m going to have the time to sit and draw.

The bag is from Troop London, who also make the bag I use everyday for work. It’s a strong canvas bag with lots of little pockets and very good value.

Maximum Sketchkit inside

The back section of the bag contains my sketchbooks and the front section contains everything else.

From left to right, we have my Kokuyo NeoCritz Transformer pencil case, the contents of which are revealed below; a Staedtler drum pencil sharpener (for emergency use – it’s not the greatest pencil sharpener but it’s good for when you need to collect the shavings); the Nomadic PE-06 pencil case as described in part two; a little double-layered watercolour pan, the name of which I forget, but which is extremely convenient for when out and about; a couple of Pink Pig sketchbook (one of which is part of my basic sketch kit); and a Winsor and Newton watercolour book.

The NeoCritz pencil case contains: a KUM long point pencil sharpener; a water brush; Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils; a Platinum Pro-Use pencil; and Staedtler 308 Pigment Liners.

Why yes, Staedtler do make excellent drawing pens and pencils! My favourite pens (Copic Multiliners, though I may be starting to lean a little towards the Sakura Pigma Micron) and favourite pencils (Tombow Mono 100s), however, stay at home. This setup gives me an opportunity to use some almost-as-good equipment.
