Description
The 14th Century St Catherine’s Chapel can be seen for miles along the beautiful Dorset coast. It stands above the small village of Abbotsbury, overlooking the Fleet and Chesil beach. It was once used as a place of retreat for the Benedictine monks living in the monastery below. Due to its location it has long been a marker for seafarers.
The St Catherine this chapel is dedicated to is the patron saint of spinsters and virgins and can apparently be of great help if you are searching for a husband.
This picture is brush and ink on watercolour paper, 41cm by 31cm, unframed.
